Welcome to Miners Memorial:
The Miners Memorial in Immigrant Park in downtown Pittsburg will be a tremendous asset for the community, celebrating the region's rich mining and immigrant history. The Miners Memorial will preserve the history of and honor deep shaft and strip miners, and auxiliary workers of the Weir-Pittsburg Coal Field located in Cherokee and Crawford countries.
Now under construction, the Memorial will be an impressive and dignified presence at the west entrance of Immigrant Park at Second and Walnut.
Miners Memorial and further development of Immigrant Park will only be accoumplished with the support of private gifts. Individuals, businesses and corporations are being asked to provide the financial resources to fully accoumplish the dream and plans for this impressimve addition for the Pittsburg community.
The estimated cost for this Memorial as described above is $600,000, with $300,000 still needed to complete the project. Donors to the project will be appropriately recognized within the Memorial.
